Q. What is the difference between the Mamiya RZ67 PRO II AND PRO IID?
A. The RZ PRO IID has additional electronics and contacts that allow direct connection between the camera body and digital backs (optional adapter #212-107 is required). All other functions and features are the same.
Q. The shutter only releases at one shutter
speed no matter what shutter speed is set. Also, the AE prism and winder will
not work. Plus the shutter can be released with the darkslide in place.
A. Check the dial around the shutter release button. If the dial is set to
the orange dot, you are in the manual mode. This function turns off the
electronic features of the camera in case of battery failure. The shutter speed
defaults to 1/400th sec., the shutter can be released with the darkslide in
place and the AE Prism and power winder will not activate. Also, all other
electronic functions will not work.
Q. After I release the shutter, I cannot wind the film. After
approximately 50 seconds I hear a high-pitched buzzer. After the buzzer stops I
can then advance the film and the process starts over again.
A. The lens was left in the mirror-up position. Check the mirror-up socket on
the lens. There will be a red line showing around the silver part of the socket.
Simply thread a cable release into the socket and remove. The red line will
disappear.
Q. I have just released the shutter and the camera is locked up. I
moved the dial on the shutter release to the manual (orange) position and the
shutter released. After releasing the shutter again the camera locks up
again.
A. The lens is in the T mode. Move the T switch on the lens so the N is
showing.
Q. How do I release the shutter without film in the
camera?
A. Make sure there is a lens on the camera and remove the dark slide. Place
the camera in the multiple exposure mode (move the switch on the side of the
camera to the M) and release the shutter. When using an RB lens you must have
the shutter speed dial set to "RBL".
Q. After releasing the shutter the winder turns on, however, the film
will not advance.
A. Be sure the door on the bottom of the camera that exposes the drive gear
is open.
Q. I just finished a whole roll of film. Everything seemed to be
working. The shutter released and the film advanced, however, my film was
blank.
A. Make sure the camera in not in the manual position (dial around the
shutter release button set to the orange position). In this mode the shutter
speed defaults to 1/400th sec. and the shutter can be released with the dark
slide in place. Also, be sure the film was loaded correctly. If the film was
loaded upside-down, the paper backing (120) will prevent exposure.
Q. Can I use 120 film in a 220 magazine or 220 film in a 120
magazine.
A. NO! Using 120 film in a 220 magazine can damage the magazine. The pressure
plate is designed for the thinner 220 film. Using 220 film in a 120 magazine can
produce out of focus images.
Q. Where can I send my camera for repair?
A. There is a full explanation of where and how to send your camera in for
service on our web site under the following link. Service and Repair.
Q. Can I use an RB lens on my RZ?
A. Yes. When using RB lenses on the RZ and RZII you must set the shutter
speeds on the lens. The AE Prism will not work. If using a winder and a shutter
speed slower than 1/8th sec. you must hold the shutter release button in until
the exposure is complete or the winder will wind before the exposure has ended.
The RZII MUST be set to "RBL" when using RB lenses.
Q. I cannot release the shutter. What can be causing
this?
A. The following is a list of reasons the shutter will not release:
1. Has the film been completely advanced to the first frame? Have all the
exposures already been made (10 with 120, 20 with 220)? 2. Has the Cocking
Lever been advanced as far as it will go? 3. Has the Dark Slide been
removed? 4. Have you locked the Shutter Release Button and forgotten? 5.
Is there a battery in the Battery Chamber? Is the battery still good? Has it
been installed correctly (polarity correct)? 6. Is the "N-T" showing "T"
lever? If it is, move lever so "N" is showing. 7. Is the camera speed dial
on "RBL" with an RZ lens on the camera? 8. Is the camera shutter speed dial
on "AEF" and either the AE Finder or RZ lens not attached? 9. Have you used
the mirror-up mode and red ring on the collar is still visible after removing
the cable release? (see question 2)
In the case of examples 1-3, an
orange lamp will illuminate in the viewfinder if an error has been made.
Q. Why can’t I remove the lens from the camera?
A. To remove the lens the camera and lens must be cocked (advanced).
Q. What do the green, red and orange lamps in the viewfinder
mean?
A. Red Lamp: When it glows it indicates that: -
The dark slide has not been withdrawn. - The camera battery is good.
When the dark slide is withdrawn the light will go out.
- If then the monitor lamp blinks, accompanied by the electronic warning
sound, it shows that the battery is weak and should be replaced.
Orange Lamp: When it glows it
indicates that:
- The cocking lever has not been advanced - The roll film holder has not
been advanced (does not apply when in multi exposure "M" mode.)
GreenLamp: When it glows it
indicates that a Metz flash unit in conjunction with the SCA 396 when attached
to the camera has fully charged. NOTE: The SCA 396 functions as a recycle
indicator only. TTL flash metering is not responsible with the RZ.
Q. When I press the shutter release button I get a beeping noise and
the shutter will not release. What could be causing this?
A. If the dark slide is withdrawn and the shutter release is depressed, but
the shutter will not fire and a beeping warning sound is heard, the following
conditions may exist:
The speed dial is set on "AEF" but: - The AE Finder or an RZ lens is not
attached. - An RB lens is mounted to the camera.
Solution: Attach and AE Finder and RZ lens, or: change
speed dial away from "AEF"
The speed dial is set on "RBL" but: - An RZ lens is attached.
Solution: Either mount an RB lens, or change shutter speed
dial away from "RBL".
Battery Condition - When the red monitor lamp blinks accompanied by the
beeping warning sound, the battery is low.
Solution: Replace the battery.
