Q. Will I be able to use the lenses and
inserts from my other 645 outfits with this camera?
A. Yes. All previous inserts and lenses (leaf shutters, too) will work with
the 645E.
Q. Is a power drive available for this camera?
A. There is no power drive made for this camera. Winders from other 645
systems will not attach to this camera.
Q. Is a Polaroid back available?
A. No. The 645E does not have detachable film magazines.
Q. What is the metering pattern of the AE finder?
A. It is a center-weighted average meter.
Q. How is the diopter adjusted?
A. First remove the lens then turn the eyepiece until the focus screen
becomes sharp. The plus (+) end is for farsightedness the minus (-) corrects
nearsightedness.
Q. What type of focus screen does the 645E contain?
A. The 645E has a permanently-mounted horizontal split-image focus
screen.
Q. Is digital photography possible with the 645E?
A. No. Digital backs may only be mounted to the Mamiya cameras with
interchangeable film magazines such as the 645 PRO, 645 AF, RB67 and RZ 67.
Q. Is TTL flash metering possible with the 645E?
A. No. However almost any type of flash system make be linked to the camera
via its hot shoe or standard PC terminal.
Q. May I use 120 film on a 220 insert and vice-versa?
A. Do this only in an emergency. The pressure plates of the two inserts are
slightly different to allow for the presence/lack of paper backing on the film.
The difference in the film plane may cause focus problems at wide apertures.
Squeezing 120 film and paper through 220 rollers (designed for film only) will
strain the back’s advance mechanism. Also, the 120 insert will cause the back’s
counter will release after exposure #15 and waste the second half of a 220 roll.
The 220 insert will cause the back’s counter will continue past #15, running the
risk of shooting on the leader paper if strict attention is not paid to the
counter.
